INSIGHT
Can colours affect how you perceive the temperature in the house? An interesting question. If this theory turns out to be right, we all stand to save a lot of energy in a smart way. That’s why, together with Philips Hue and Eneco’s Toon®, we went in search of the answer.
'The colour experiment'
With an experiment led by colour psychologist Jill Morton, we wanted to prove that you can turn the thermostat down a few degrees without perceiving a drop in temperature by simply using warm colours to light up a room. In three separate environments we recorded people’s behaviour and that of their pets in a blue room with cold colours as opposed to a red space with warm colours.

RESULTS

The Colour Experiment has been viewed over 72,000 times.
This means that the online video made a valuable contribution to the overall campaign which led to sales targets being exceeded by 5 percent. In addition to this, the number of Philips Hue connections combined with Toon® increased by 50 percent during this campaign.
